Ο κύριος στόχος της CYMEPA είναι η ενθάρρυνση των εφοπλιστών και ναυτικών της Κύπρου στην αποτελεσματική πρόληψη της ρύπανσης των θαλασσών. Η ΄Ενωση επίσης συμβάλλει στην ευαισθητοποίηση των ναυτικών και ναυτιλιακών στελεχών σε θέματα ασφάλειας και προστασίας του θαλάσσιου περιβάλλοντος με επιμορφωτικά σεμινάρια και την αποστολή διαφωτιστικού υλικού στα πλοία και στις ναυτιλιακές εταιρείες. Στα πλαίσια αυτών των προσπαθειών η ΄Ενωση διεξήγαγε διαγωνισμό σχεδιασμού αφίσας με θέμα «Ασφαλέστερα Πλοία – Καθαρότερες Θάλασσες» με συμμετοχή του προσωπικού των ναυτιλιακών εταιρειών.
